The Importance of Praise in Prayer

One of my favorite things to do in prayer, and if you know me at all, you know this about me, is that I love to praise God in prayer. I always start with praise, and I do that for several reasons. For one, it puts God in his rightful position. It reminds me that God is God and I am not, and it also reminds me of who he is, his faithfulness, his love, his kindness, his mercy. As I say those things about God and as I praise him using his attributes, it reminds my heart, my mind, my soul of who he is. And that brings him so much glory for us to praise him. And it brings me so much comfort and peace when I do that. So try that this week as you're praying. Start with with praise. Begin and just praise God through the alphabet. You know, start from A to Z. You'll have to fake it when you get to X. But just try that. It will add so much to your prayer life.
