Cleanse Me

Meaghan Saxon · March 5, 2023

well hi good morning and welcome to what we're calling what are you reading and if you remember last week Jacqueline and I talked about we did a little bit of a recap from the retreat first off this obviously is not Jacqueline this is Jenna Carrick and she was one of our speakers at the retreat you spoke on Saturday night and she did such an amazing job I know it was God that was working through you. Yes, exactly. And so she is going to share a little bit about what she spoke about on Saturday night landing in Psalm 51 and just the insights she had there. And for me, that was probably the session that really moved me a lot. It was things just letting go of some idols in my life. I didn't even think were idols. They were just plans and plans that I had for my life that I was holding on to so tight. So yeah. Yeah. It's so hard. It's so hard. That word yield to just kept being repeated through the weekend. And that's so hard. But yes, we spent a lot of time in Psalm 51. And I mean, it was just an incredible weekend. It was God absolutely blew my mind. He really did in so many ways. But he reminded me yesterday morning when I was like, Oh, Lord, I just want to go back. Yeah. I want to go back. Can I just stay there? It was so great. And he said, Jenna, I am no less capable of blowing your mind on a Thursday morning as you seek my face than I was at the retreat when you were, everything else was quieted, the regular noise of life. And that was just a sweet, sweet reminder of, yeah. But yeah, we were in Psalm 51, and we talked about inviting the Lord to purge us. We saw in verse 7 where David cries out to the Lord after the prophet Nathan confronts him over his sin, his adultery, and murder. And he says, invites the Lord, purge me with hyssop. And so we talked about that invitation to being purged by the Lord. But then the cooperating of it, this yielding. Yes, and we even mentioned that. Jacqueline and I quoted you in our last show. We were like, cooperate with mommy. She's used an analogy with her children. And then she said, how many times is the Lord like, mm-hmm, you can cooperate with me. And I just, I loved that, that analogy that he used. He has shown me through raising five toddlers that I'm a lot like a toddler. But after the purge, we said, you know, once things are cleaned off, I use the illustration of a section of my counter in the kitchen that I clean off. Everyone has that section. And it's so funny because everyone knew what happened. Like when something is cleaned off, they were like, it gets filled back up. So that invitation into the Lord to permeate us, you know, to just fill every nook and creamy of our heart and our life with him. Because we get so distracted. I mean, squirrel, squirrel, squirrel. And someone even said earlier in the day when LaDonna and I did the workshop, which hopefully we'll be able to get LaDonna on here. She's going to be embarrassed to say that. But when we were talking about in Isaiah and God's train filled the temple and, you know, how it's never ending. But then she said, well, that's also, you know, God's train fills the temple. Your body's the temple. And it permeates top to bottom. And I was like, she is on point. know she was already ready for your time so it was really good um i love that i love that yeah yes for that invitation of permeate you know i mean i he's shown me areas of my life um you know like you were saying i have plans for and and it's not that i'm intentionally you know walking in the opposite direction of him right yeah i'm just kind of trucking along and i haven't i mean mean my husband says it's like i'm on my train and i'm not on his train right and so just that invitation to the lord to show me what threads of my life i haven't invited him into yeah yeah so yeah it was about and then so our three p's we had purge we had permeate and then we had pursue that personal holiness in our life it will only come when we pursue the holy one and as i was just reflecting on the retreat um just and just this lesson i mean until i think i probably have another you know i don't know four or five decades worth with the lord to do over this it will be continuous um and he keep like i said that night you know we got less than 101 then we got 201 we got 301 and so just the layers of that but the piece he showed me um the other morning was out of verse 17 of psalm 51 right and as so as we pursue the lord that we would pursue him with a broken and contrite heart yes that humble spirit that is so so hard but i'm not very teachable when i'm not humble yeah so we get because you become like a stone wall and you can't you can't you don't want to hear it because you're like no i got my plans i got my i got my ways i gotta know what I'm doing right or as if when you stand it's like how you kept saying you kept doing this and then this and this and then this you know and it was such a good you know a broken and contrite heart is yeah here lord here's here here it is do what you want with it exactly exactly that humble yielding so hard it's so easy to say but it's so difficult to do and I loved how you said because as she was talking there were things um Jen and I were just talking about there were times in my life where you know you're like living in sin and it's not easier but psalm 51 is like that dark sin get it out all of that kind of stuff but it's maybe not even it is still a sin but it's a little more hidden when it's just like well these are my plans and dreams and i'm holding them higher than what god has in store for me and so that's where when you were talking about the threads of life it was like yes you know it was just it was really good i don't want to esteem anything in my life more than I esteem for me. I don't want to bow the knee before anyone or anything but Him. Right. And I love that. I love that. And so, and I love that He still gave you another nugget because we were talking all this this past weekend of, you know, just how God's Word is alive and active. And, you know, how many times has she studied this through life, lived it. And then not only that, but you studied for this retreat. And then even then after that, God's like, here's another little nugget. Yeah. You know, when you spend time in his word, you get these nuggets. And so, yeah, you said that you had a little challenge for everybody. So, yes. And that is just to pursue, pursue, pursue, but do it with a broken and contrite heart. And so often, at least in my life, I have found that I am often more humble and hard and more teachable, more moldable when I'm going through a hard thing. but we don't like the hard things in life and oftentimes when we feel him speaking to our spirit going i want you to do this i want you to step forward in this way but when we we know it's going to be hard oh man that delayed obedience but i just i just challenge y'all just step out just do the thing with the lord he is faithful he will honor that and just bring your humble and your broken heart before him. Pursue him with every drippity drop of energy that you have. And he, I mean, he will, but he will just, he's waiting. He's waiting to astound us and blow our minds in fresh ways every day. I love that. Isn't she awesome? She's so great. All right. Well, I'm going to pray for us and we'll finish up for today. Heavenly Father, Lord, we just thank you for the gift that is your word. We thank you that you call us to a place of humble obedience, even when it's difficult Lord and Father I just pray for anyone who's watching this hearing our voices Lord that they would just be reminded to purge the things in life that are not of you to invite you to permeate Lord every single nook cranny all of it Lord that you would fill us top to bottom and Father more than anything that we would pursue pursue you above all else God and we would do that with a broken and contrite heart humility just saying lord here i am what do you what do you want of me and father we just we just thank you for that we thank you for your word and ask that you would just show us and bless us today it's in your son jesus christ's name we pray amen all right ladies well you have a good one and give a thumbs up and like having jenna here it's nice to have you here thanks for coming yeah thanks for coming all right bye ladies
