What Are You Reading? The Blessings of God

well hello women of born friends Jacqueline here and I had the privilege of sharing a quick word with you today we're going to focus on Psalm 91 this is Psalm 91 1 I call that my 9-1-1 verse It's my emergency verse. It's the verse that I go to when my world is crumbling or when I am shocked or fearful or fill in the blank. That's my 911 verse. That's my emergency. Hit the floor with my knees and pray that verse. So here is how Psalm 91 starts. I want us to look at this entire Psalm. I may not read the whole Psalm, but I'm going to read bits and pieces of it. There is so much in this psalm. It starts like this. He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust. For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and underneath him you will find refuge. Underneath his wings you will find refuge. His faithfulness is a shield and a buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the air that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand may fall by your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place, the most high who is your refuge, no evil will befall you. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the adder, the young lion and the serpent, you will trample underfoot because he holds fast to me in love. I will deliver him. I will protect him because he knows my name. This is the Lord talking here. When he calls to me, I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will rescue him and honor him. With long life, I will satisfy him and show him my salvation well i did read the whole psalm to you because it's just so good but i love those first four verses he who dwells in the shelter of the most high will abide in the shadow of the almighty you know the lord and then the second verse is um the lord is i will say to the lord my refuge and my fortress my god in whom i trust refuge fortress trust those are strong words um that refuge talks about that place of peace that place of protection and safety that that he's our fortress you're a fortress is that's that's a strong tower that's a place that is as has power and protection and authority and then that word trust because it says my refuge and my fortress my god in whom i trust that talks about his provision we can trust him because he's our provider we can have confidence in his provision we can have we don't have to fear we can count on him because he's our trust our confidence is in him verse three he delivers he covers he's a place of refuge he's faithful he's a shield and a buckler no there's no fear in him he's protection a hedge a dwelling place it goes on and on and on and so i just as i went through that verse that excuse me that whole chapter the other day in my quiet time i began to make a list of blessings that we have in god in our lord yahweh um so here are the blessings you're just some of the blessings when the lord is your dwelling place um all of these blessings are yours Like everything I just read and more, that's yours. The closer I am to him, the safer I am. He who dwells in the shadow, if you're in somebody's shadow, you've got to be close to them, right? He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. That shows closeness. And the closer I am to him, the more of a refuge he can be for me. The more I know him, the more of his peace, power, and provision I can experience. Here's another blessing. He makes himself known to me personally. My life is satisfying because I am satisfied in him. It talks about in the last portion of the whole chapter, with long life, I will satisfy him and show him my salvation. I'm safe with the Lord. I am secure. I am saved. I am being sanctified. And I am sure. Do you see the blessings there? Just in that one Psalm. I mean, it is rich. I want to encourage you this week to dig into God's word. I had the best time going through that. I mean, I didn't read everything that I wrote in my journal because I don't have time in this little short video to tell you all of the attributes that I found and all of the promises that were there. But I want to encourage you to dig in God's word. And if you want a passage to look at, look at Psalm 91. Let that be your 911 verse. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High or the shelter of the Most High will find rest because he abides, will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. Think on that this week.
