Women of Warren Vlog – Always Working

Good morning and happy Monday. Well, we may just be in the smack middle of summer. Summer is so great and so fun, but it has its own set of challenges as well. And I think that's true regardless of what season of life we find ourselves in. Maybe you have welcomed home a college student for the summer and that has completely thrown off your regular rhythms, although you're soaking up the time with your student while they are home. Or maybe your regular Bible study, your regular prayer group takes a break for the summer, so your calendar is a lot more quiet than it normally is. Maybe you normally enjoy an afternoon walk, but the steaminess that we have enjoyed here lately doesn't allow for that anymore. So whatever it is for your summer that looks different than the rest of the year, while it can be fun and it might include some great travel, some sweet memories with family. It has its own set of challenges and I think that we experience that also in our quiet time with the Lord over the summer. I know that's been true for me and my regular rhythms of my daily time with the Lord, they don't look quite the same in the summer as they do the rest of the year. I have a house full of kiddos at home during the summer and I have laughed more so in other summers when they were just a little younger, but I've often laughed and thought, it is the sound of my Bible opening that wakes my children up each morning. And just fighting a little bit of frustration over that sometimes, if I'm honest. I am a creature of habit and so I like things to be regular and normal each morning with the Lord and they're not like that in the summer and so I've definitely struggled to still have that same hunger and thirst for the word of God and wanting to feel close to the Lord during the chaos of the summer like I like he gives me and and blesses me with through the rest of the year and the other morning it was just so sweet and I just wanted to share this I hope it's a source of encouragement to you um I my normal uh routine uh and rhythm looks different with the Lord like I said this summer and I'm not in my normal Bible studies and so I've picked back up a devotional that I've had kind of worked through part of but hadn't gone all the way through and I just picked a random month to start in so it doesn't even correlate with with the current month that we are in and it just so happened like that the Lord correlated this random day that I was reading and the scripture that went along with it he correlated that perfectly to the chapter in the book of Psalm that I was also going through and it was just the sweetest reminder to me that the Lord is at work and even in the chaos of the summer or just the different rhythm of the summer, the quiet of the summer, whatever that looks like for you during this season, the Lord is at work and so it reminded in me of John chapter 5, verse 17. These are the words of Jesus. Jesus said to them, my father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working. So even when our rhythm looks different, even when our schedule looks different, We can rest and know that the Lord is always on his throne. He's never taking a vacation. He is never waiting until things slow down or things become more normal in our calendars, in our routines to work. He is always at work. And that was just the sweetest reminder to me the other day. And I just really felt the truth that he is on his throne and was reminded of that sweet truth. And so I wanted to encourage you with that today and this week. I don't know if maybe something has thrown off your groove lately, your time with the Lord, if it has not really existed the past couple weeks or if it has existed but looked differently and maybe you're not a fan of the way it's looked, hang in there. Stay in the word. Carve out time for the Lord. He is worthy of our time. He's worthy of our attention, our affections. And he is always, always at work. He never leaves his throne and he's never caught off guard. I thought I would end our time today out of Psalm chapter 95. if you'll go with me there, Psalm chapter 95. And sometimes, I don't know, I think that when I am not maybe feeling it with the Lord, maybe I am not, I just, I want to feel his presence and I want to feel him speak, but I'm just, I'm not. It's hard to stay diligent. It's hard to press in during those times and I think one of the things that that the Lord always brings me back to is Jenna no matter what you're feeling no matter what is swirling around you just worship worship me and so I thought that I would use Psalm 95 the first seven verses as a prayer of worship together this morning. So I'm going to change a few of the words just for the correct pronouns, but this is all out of Psalm 95, the first seven verses. Come, my dear sister, this morning, come, let us sing for joy to the Lord. Let us shout aloud to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song for the lord is the great god the great king above all gods in your hand oh lord are the depths of the earth and the mountain peaks belong to you the sea is yours and you made it your hands form the dry land come let us bow down and worship let us kneel before the lord our maker for he is our god and we are the people of his pasture the flock under his care i hope that encourages you today i hope that this week today on this monday you will carve out time to sit and worship our savior he is worthy i hope you have a great week you
