Women of Warren Vlog – Seasons of Change

Meaghan Saxon · June 10, 2024

well hey ladies and happy monday morning i hope that you are doing well this morning and i have a um awesome guest with me this morning and so she's going to be a regular pretty soon so this is jenna karrick and if you um got to see our video about i think it was a week and a half ago um we talked about transitions and we're going to be talking about transitions today and so if you don't know if you're not in the loop i will be stepping out um hopefully very very soon this baby is ready to come and jenna will be stepping in and taking taking on this role of women's ministry here on the warren augusta campus and she's going to do a fabulous job and so as she and i were talking you know we've been doing training and all these things we both have big transitions coming up in life and that can be daunting and a little bit scary but also very exciting and so jenna just had some neat devotional thoughts about that and so we're going to spend some time today maybe you're already thinking on your own about areas of your life where maybe you're in a season of transition and so um yeah so transitions are hard and change is hard and um i really i don't like change if i'm if i'm honest um it sends me way outside of my comfort zone and um i guess it exposes to me that i am very controlling in a lot of ways i can't be in control whenever i know what i'm doing no exactly yeah i just you know for megan stepping into motherhood and i don't know what tips i mean you can read as much as you want but you don't know what you're doing until you're in it right right so yeah and every baby is different And the baby hasn't read the books, so tell them what they should do. They don't know what they're supposed to do, exactly. And it can be such a time of, I feel like at first change can be concern, and then it can turn to, if you allow it to, to fear. And so it can become such an area of fear, at least it does for me. So true. Where change can be such a struggle. And so I know a while ago, it was probably a year ago, we did look at ecclesiastes 3 and we're going to look a little bit at that too because jenna and i were both talking we're like that's such a good passage yeah for the changes and seasons and changes in time and just how life in general there's change like if life is not changing yeah it's not really life exactly and so you know we all say we hate change and yet at the same time that's such an essential part of life right and um i think it's so essential because it makes us trust and lean on the lord yep absolutely more than anything else and so i'm going to read ecclesiastes 3 verses 1 through 8 and then i want you to talk about your isaiah passage which is really good so if you're with me and if you're not driving open up your bible and you're going to turn to ecclesiastes 3 verses 1 through 8 it says for everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven a time to be born and a time to die a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted. A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to break down and a time to build up. A time to weep and a time to laugh. A time to mourn and a time to dance. A time to cast away stones and a time to gather stones together. A time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing. A time to seek and a time to lose. A time to keep and a time to cast away. A time to tear and a time to sew a time to keep silence and a time to speak a time to love and a time to hate a time for war and a time for peace all different kinds of times and so one of the things I was reminded of and if you remember when we talked about this passage a long time ago it's almost like breathing in this passage the time to be born and a time to die and so it just made me think of if change is life you know we are breathing we are moving and um we remember who is the giver of that breath yeah so yeah breath of life but i love what you were telling me and it's mainly through text message and it was still really inspiring through text message and she talked about isaiah 42 16 and so if you would go into that it was just it was so good yeah um so isaiah 42 16 is a verse that the lord has brought me back to multiple points in my life when he has brought something new or there's some kind of change going on and so i just feel like any time there is a point of change or transition in my life i just i come back to this every time it just it just anchors your cornerstone yeah yeah so isaiah 42 16 says i will lead the blind by ways they have not known along unfamiliar paths i will guide them i will turn the darkness into light before them and make their rough places smooth these are the things i will do i will not forsake them and i just love that because so often when i'm going into a change or into a you know right now a new job opportunity and a new um opportunity to serve i feel blind i mean as megan said we've been training and i'm like i had to learn how to use the copier today and and and i i felt blind in the coffee room and so i just so identify um of course this verse and you know speaking about israel and um and reminding israel about the promises um of the lord and i just love the language in this verse too because i mean it just you know paths they have not known unfamiliar paths darkness rough places like I don't sign me up for any of that you know no thank you none of that sounds fun none of it sounds comfortable yeah um and you know it's like I said earlier that that challenge of control you know is really it because I don't know exactly how this is gonna go right I don't know how this is gonna play out um and so just that that trust and that faith in the lord that that is required um but you know as you were saying changes is is life and if there is not change but then is there life you know and i just think that's so that's so true and the lord has reminded me so often lately i am a god of movement jenna i am moving and you know john 5 tells us he is always at work and so just that reminder too of like no movement and change it's a good thing it's a good thing it's a hard thing but it's a good thing and it just makes me think as you were talking about you know when Jesus told the disciples follow me he didn't say follow me so here's where we're going to go so first stop is going to be here and then we're going to stop here we're going to talk to this lady at the well and then we're going to talk you know he didn't say any of that you know he didn't lay it out he didn't lay out all the plans instead he said follow me and all of his teaching is done as they were going right you know it wasn't okay we're going to stop and do this or stop and do that it's as they're going and he's teaching you know which is the way that they teach over there as rabbis teach they teach with illustrations around them and so what better way that God teaches us as we go you know as I step into motherhood I can prepare all I want but it's not gonna be it's not gonna go according to plan I do know that so you know it's just an as you go and same for you you know i mean i remember when i first stepped into this job and i learned kind of the basics and then it was like everything else you just sort of learn as you go right you know and that god is in that and that he's you know telling us to just follow him yes and that he is a god of movement yes and just a beautiful journey that awaits in those times of transition of um you know just a tender opportunity to walk deeper with the lord and to learn on a fresh level how much i need him and how good and faithful he really is yes because i know i can't rely on myself because i don't know what i'm doing i think i know what i'm doing i don't right which is so good oh yeah well so this is what you have to look forward to she's so full wisdom, which I absolutely love. Would you pray us out? Absolutely. Lord, we just come to you on this Monday morning and we just pause and breathe with the incredibly good, kind, and faithful God that you are, Lord. What a joy it is to know you. What a joy it is to have your word and be reminded of these precious promises Lord all of the emphatic language used in Isaiah 42 16 things that you are declaring I will do this I will lead them I will turn the darkness to light these are the things I will do Lord may we hold fast to who you have told us that you are what you have told us that you will do and may we rest in you even when we can't see a fully lighted path ahead of us you are good and you are worthy in Jesus name amen amen well thank you and thank you ladies and we hope that you have a great rest of your Monday
