Anxious or overwhelmed

“And one is the confidence of looking up to that occupied throne, knowing God is still in control. Even as believers, sometimes we can get tricked into thinking, man, I'm anxious, I'm worrying, the world's unstable. What is my kid's future going to be like? What are my grandkids' future going to be like? So when we know there's an occupied throne and all this fits into God's plan, that gives us confidence and we have an amazing future to look forward to. Every leadership book I've ever read, every coach's book or anything like that, all talks about casting a vision.”

“when I'm going in to speak on Sunday mornings on the Augusta campus, you would find that the scripture above that door is the scripture I'm going to share with you. If you could pick up my journal and begin to read it, which you couldn't because my handwriting is so illegible, But if you could find it, you would see many times I have emphasized or highlighted this verse. And then certainly in any Bible that I've ever used, you will find this verse marked.”

“Well, I'm certainly, as I said, glad to look you in the face and see you eye to eye once again. And let's just be sure we remember how important it is to hold on to willingness.”

“And this anchor that I'm talking to you about today only works if you quit pointing the light at your head. God is always present. God is absolute in power. God is a promise maker and a promise keeper. And when you begin to point it at your feet in the very specific areas and arenas, you know those lights never go off. Nick, what do I need to do to get this thing off quickly? That's all right. I'll just burn it up. Let it sit there. Mr. Technology. There it is. I got it. Good. Just took a swipe or two. It's hard to swipe while you speak.”

“down and ignoring that they are there, but it's taking a moment to take a deep breath and really tell yourself, I see that all this is going on within me, but it's going to be okay. You're not ignoring it. You are acknowledging it. And then as a believer, I think we can take a step further. As a believer, we we pray about that. I'd say that's kind of how I think this plays out in my own life is maybe as I'm anxious and there are things that are going on in my mind, in my heart, I take this and I surrender it, Lord. I say, I'm I'm frustrated. All”

“If we focus on that, everything else has to fall in line. But oftentimes, when we get distracted and we lose focus on what really matters, we can become anxious. I'm going to say it again. Oftentimes, when we lose focus and we get distracted and we don't concentrate on those things that really matter, we can become anxious,”

“I guess you're facing me, so his right hand would be over here. It's always opposite when you're speaking to someone. But Jesus is at the right hand of the Father and it says that he is seated on the throne. You see, when someone comes to your house and they finally sit down at the table and they kind of lean back or they sit down on your couch and maybe they even prop their feet up, This is a posture of comfort. This is a posture that I'm not anxious,”

“But another bad attitude is being anxious and fearful that you won't have the answers. It's one thing to say, I don't have to have the answers. But if it still makes you anxious and fearful, I'm not keeping up with my slides, am I? Then it's still just as bad. So, assuming you have to have the answers or you have the answers, that's another problem, I guess. if you're the kind of person that is kind of a fix-it person, how many fix-it people do we have”

“It's going to be one anxious experience after another because I'm constantly living in fear of my lack of control and constantly living in anxiety because of my persistent momentary myopia. So what is it that Jesus tells them? Well, first he tells them that life is full of anxiety-producing experiences. Life is full of anxiety-producing experiences. It's been a hit in really just everywhere. people seeing and doing the motions. But I don't know how many of you know that last weekend Forrest Frank had an accident, a very serious accident. He was on a skateboard and he fell and as a result”

“We crossed paths earlier this morning and I'm so grateful that he's there and I thank you for sharing him with the Augusta campus today. And these four voices are not coming to be as though it were the four horsemen of the apocalypse to bring words of doom. We are coming to bring words of encouragement and words of blessing and words of hope to you. And so each of us have kind of taken what I would call our life verse, our critical, defining passage of Scripture”

“When's the last time that you experienced fear? Now, I'm not just talking about a little bit of fear. I'm talking about that gripping fear. That that fear that can paralyze and sort of shut you down. I I was thinking back over my my life. I don't experience fear like that very often. There's only, you know, a few instances in my lifetime that I can think about that I'm a little bit of a thrill seeker. I bungee jumped. I've done some stuff. But I remember as soon as I asked my question my that question to myself”
