Depravity

“though they haven't been born yet. Number three, no depravity. Depravity is a big word. What does that mean? Depravity means corruption and wickedness. You can think of it as evil. We believe as Christians that as much as we want to believe that we're naturally good people, as much as we want to believe that people are good on their own, we're not. Romans 3.23 says this, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Psalm 51 even goes so far as to say that in sin I was”

“And then we believe there's no depravity, that the problem with humanity is not that we're depraved in sin, but that we're deprived. And if we give everybody better economics, better education, better environment, that they're going to thrive and all of life's problems are going away. And while I believe in education and I believe in economic recovery and relief and I believe in a better environment, I want you to know what's wrong with man. It's not what he doesn't have, it's what he does have, and that's a sinful nature. He's depraved.”

You see, all of us from the time we were born don't have a susceptibility towards God. We have a susceptibility called depravity away from God. And we did things that we're not proud of. Some of us still do things we're not proud of. That's just this broken, messed up flesh that we're holding on to until we eventually go”
